Having grown up with a father who is a musician, my first piano lessons were with him. I've always been surrounded by music and decided early on that it was going to be a huge part of my life.
My musical background is a diploma in piano performance from Mohawk College, I have also taken part-time courses through York University as well as a Kodaly course through Wilfrid Laurier University.
My goal as a music educator has always been to foster knowledge and an appreciation for music. Not only have I spent most of my life studying classical piano but have also studied jazz theory, voice, flute and most recently started taking fiddle lessons; I'm a firm believer that to teach anything to others, one must always keep learning.
Our family moved to the area in January 2015 and as new members of the community I wanted to become more involved in our new city as well as keep growing as a music educator; this exploring led me to the Music Together®®program. After researching the program and attending a class, I was hooked. With my music education background it didn't take long for me to see how much Music Together has to offer and all the amazing research that has gone into the program. I decided to take the teacher training course as well as apply to be my own centre director and couldn't be happier to be able to share this great program with others!
I'm also the Music Director at St. James Anglican Church in Fergus, play flute, fiddle, ukulele and piano, work as an accompanist, play with the Guelph Celtic Orchestra and take on other musical opportunities as the come up!
I love this program and I'm so happy to be able to share it with Fergus, Elora & area!
